The most vulnerable people in NSW’s Hunter region now have access to a Newcastle taxi service to reconnect loved ones via 13cabs following the easing of lockdown restrictions.
Hunter Primary Care’s NDIS clients are selecting 13cabs because they are guaranteed a double vaccinated driver and a regularly sanitised vehicle as their Newcastle taxi provider.
“As lockdowns finish, hundreds of Hunter Primary Care clients want to see friends and family again, but they also want to know they can travel safely with a vaccinated driver in a sanitised vehicle,” 13cabs Newcastle Manager, Daniel Lawlor, said.
“13cabs is the largest point to point transport provider in the Hunter, and we are eager to help.”
Claudine Ford, NDIS Service Manager from Hunter Primary Care said: “Our NDIS participants from across the Hunter region will benefit from the relationship, as they are able to safely connect with their community and support services with a COVID vaccinated 13cabs driver.
“We are pleased to support our NDIS client’s choice, when having a fully vaccinated driver is important to them,” Ms Ford said.
“We understand the importance of transport safety for our most vulnerable community members as lockdown eases.”
Hunter Primary Care, a not-for-profit organisation, has provided quality health care and wellbeing services to the Hunter community for almost 30 years.
The organisation supports people to live a healthy life by delivering a range of health services to the Newcastle and Hunter community via a network of trusted health professionals.
Their NDIS services are all about clients making their own choices. Hunter Primary Care’s relationship with 13cabs further emphasises both organisations promise on supporting those choices through quality, as their common clients are guaranteed a double vaccinated driver and a regularly sanitised vehicle
Mr Lawlor said the majority of 13cab Drivers in Newcastle were vaccinated, which had led to the company working with many health care clients, as people – especially the most vulnerable – wanted vaccinated drivers.
“It’s very important we can offer an assurance that the driver is vaccinated as many of our clients are vulnerable to COVID-19.”
“We are really handing the controls to our passengers, by allowing them to choose a fully vaccinated Driver for their ride,” he said.
13cabs has also instigated a new deep cleaning process with a quick turn-around to help get people safely in and around Newcastle.
“The hard surfaces of our vehicles are sanitized with both antiseptic wipes and sprays after each trip,” Mr Lawlor said.
“At the end of each day, the Newcastle taxis go to our sanitisation station in Newcastle.
“We know everyone is cautious and worried about their safety.
“It’s our focus. People want to see their family and friends and get to their jobs safely, so we are here to help.
